In 1953, Max Hoffman, the very influencial Porsche importator for the United States, suggest to Ferry Porsche to develop a sporty and lightweight version of the 356. Based on the convertible version which was already inthe catalog, the manufacturer develops a funny roadster with simple and seducing body. The interior is refined to reduce the weight to the maximum. From the commercialization in 1954, the Speedster (contraction of the words “speed” and “roadster”) has lot of success in the races as well is the californian streets : an automotive myth is born ! Sold until 1958, the Speedster has been hardly produced in 4200 units !

Among the 28 cars shown, you will discover the Apal Francorchamps which was recently refurbished by MY Vintage. Built in two units in 1984 at Blegny (Liège area, Belgium), the Francorchamps remained as show car and never been on the market!
